Technical questions

Unfortunately, there is no general answer to this question. According to ZTV Wegebau, this depends on the load, the frost sensitivity class of the subsoil and, depending on the geographical location, the respective frost exposure zone.

According to DIN 18318, the bedding must be 4cm on average. +- 1cm to compensate for unevenness in the base layer.

Our bucket products already contain all the necessary superplasticizer in the package. The goods in kind require the addition of water. You will find detailed information on the bucket labels or the product data sheet on this website

With the 1-component pavement jointing mortar, it is possible to "keep it alive" for a certain time after opening the container. To do this, fill clean water into the container until the grout is completely covered. Then close the container again. This will keep your paving grout for up to one month. Unfortunately, this is not possible with the 2-component products. Once mixed, they react completely within the processing times.

All our pavement jointing mortars are water-permeable. Please refer to the respective technical data sheets for the exact values. Whether your municipality recognises the result as an "unsealed area" depends, among other things, on the joint width. The procedure is also handled differently in each city and district. The competent authority can certainly provide you with precise information.

This is a borderline case that is assessed differently in different sets of rules. The ZTV Wegebau permits this construction method for purely pedestrian traffic. However, this presupposes that the prescribed stone thicknesses are also installed. Under these conditions, you can grout these areas with paving grout. For heavier loads, we recommend our product ISATEC® - FLEX.

Yes, it is very difficult for ants to eat through our mortar, but it cannot be 100% ruled out that they will find a weak point.

Please observe the product-specific curing times before putting the freshly grouted surface into operation. These depend on the product and the respective ambient temperature. For more detailed information, please refer to the respective product data sheet.

This depends primarily on the joints (number, width depth) and also on the material used. Do you already use our ROMEX app? Here you will find a consumption calculator with which you can easily calculate the material requirements for your project.

The ROMEX® ISATEC® anchor technology can be used in unbound paving construction up to a maximum gradient of 20 degrees. For steeper paved areas, only monolithic, bound construction should be used, as the fine particles are flushed out of the base layer during heavy rainfall and the entire construction thus becomes unstable. Corresponding regulations in Germany: "RStO RAS-EW ZTV Pflaster-StB; ZTV-EW-StB ZTV SoB-StB; M FP 1 - Code of practice for surface pavements with paved and slabbed surfaces: For surfaces ≥ 5% slope, surface infiltration is not recommended."
