The TOP paving grout for ceramic tiles. ROMPOX® - ECOFINE for joint widths from 3 mm is known for its very easy application and no binder residues on the stone surface. One of the advantages of this is that the sustainable grout has a long, open working time, making it easier to grout large stone formats.
Professional tips for the solid grouting of ceramic coverings
- Slabs 30 mm thick or thicker are suitable for unbound laying (according to ZTV Wegebau)
- Slabs less than 30 mm thick must be laid in a water-permeable mortar bed and with a bonding bridge (according to DIN 18318:2019-09)
Joint widths according to DIN 18318:2019-09 for the bonded construction method
- Slabs with an edge length of >= 600 mm must be laid with a joint width of 15 mm (tolerance +/- 5 mm)
- All other pavements must be built with joint widths of 10 mm also here with a tolerance of +/- 5 mm
Presumably, this raises the question of who lays their slabs to such a joint width. But every expert will judge according to the DIN, in which no mixed construction (unbound bedding, fixed joint) is allowed. This is in complete contrast to ZTV-Wegebau, which expressly permits this construction method. However, the ZTV Wegebau also prescribes joint widths of 5-15 mm.
It is important that specialist installers advise their customers in this respect and "register concerns" if the client wishes a special construction method (3 mm joint!) with regard to the joint width. At the start of construction, the client should agree with the contractor in writing and in a verifiable manner according to which set of rules / worksheet (DIN or ZTV Wegebau) he would like to build and which customer requests deviate from the standard. Then nothing can happen!
