ROMEX® increases production capacities

Image

Due to continuous growth and in order to be able to meet the high demand in the area of 1-component paving grouts in the future, we have expanded our capacities at the Meckenheim site. In June, three new silo plants were installed, enabling us to further significantly increase the daily production volume of our popular ready-mix grouts. We are thus even better positioned in this market segment and are further expanding our position in the market.

Correct grouting of ceramic tiles with ROMEX®

The TOP paving grout for ceramic tiles. ROMPOX® - ECOFINE for joint widths from 3 mm is known for its very easy application and no binder residues on the stone surface. One of the advantages of this is that the sustainable grout has a long, open working time, making it easier to grout large stone formats.

Professional tips for the solid grouting of ceramic coverings

  • Slabs 30 mm thick or thicker are suitable for unbound laying (according to ZTV Wegebau)
  • Slabs less than 30 mm thick must be laid in a water-permeable mortar bed and with a bonding bridge (according to DIN 18318:2019-09)

Joint widths according to DIN 18318:2019-09 for the bonded construction method

  • Slabs with an edge length of >= 600 mm must be laid with a joint width of 15 mm (tolerance +/- 5 mm)
  • All other pavements must be built with joint widths of 10 mm also here with a tolerance of +/- 5 mm

Presumably, this raises the question of who lays their slabs to such a joint width. But every expert will judge according to the DIN, in which no mixed construction (unbound bedding, fixed joint) is allowed. This is in complete contrast to ZTV-Wegebau, which expressly permits this construction method. However, the ZTV Wegebau also prescribes joint widths of 5-15 mm.

It is important that specialist installers advise their customers in this respect and "register concerns" if the client wishes a special construction method (3 mm joint!) with regard to the joint width. At the start of construction, the client should agree with the contractor in writing and in a verifiable manner according to which set of rules / worksheet (DIN or ZTV Wegebau) he would like to build and which customer requests deviate from the standard. Then nothing can happen!

ROMEX® donates to the primary school in Merl

Image

In the course of the schoolyard design/theatre project, ROMEX® supports the community primary school in Meckenheim-Merl in the realisation of current projects. On the one hand, this is a schoolyard design suitable for pupils, on the other hand a theatre project on the topic of self-assertion.

Certain projects are only possible with the support that goes beyond the state budget for schools. Since education is a very important aspect of everyone, ROMEX® is of course happy to help implement the projects and donates 1.000,00 € to the Support Association of the Municipal Community Primary School Meckenheim-Merl e.V..

submitted by ROMEX® GmbH.

This year, the Special Prize of Medium-sized Businesses goes to ROMEX® GmbH. The core of the project is a grout with a new binder based on renewable raw materials. In addition, the main ingredient sand was replaced by recycled products. The previous packaging was replaced by recycled plastics from household or commercial waste, and the energy required for production is generated using solar power. Here, a medium-sized company from the construction chemicals sector shows how sustainability can be viewed holistically and implemented in an exemplary manner.
