Storage and handling of resin based products during the cold season

The liquid components need to be stored frostfree. This includes the single bottle containers as well as the buckets that have resine/hardener components inside them. Filler material bags should be stored dryly.

The liquid components need to be stored frostfree. This includes the single bottle containers as well as the buckets that have resine/hardener components inside them. Filler material bags should be stored dryly.

Furthermore we recommend the following precautions:

  • Cold material (due to storage or transport) must be brought up to ambient temperature before application.
  • The required minimum values according to the technical specifications, regarding air (temperature), surface and air humidity, need to be adhered to. When working with synthetic resin paving joint mortars, then the recommended ground temperature from the product information should be heeded.
  • In general the material should not only be stored frostfree, but also be transported frostfree, especially for self-collection clients, and depending on delivery area and temperature conditions, the transport company should use thermotransport (+6°C) if possible.
  • Using blow heaters during application of our floor coatings is not recommended. The airstream disturbs the hardening process and produces a lot of dust/dirt. Due to increased air movement, the water loss of watery products is dramatically shortened, which has a negative effect on hardening.
  • Last but not least we recommend ordering materials on time to ensure punctual delivery. In case of severe weather conditions such as frost and snow, hazardous materials transport is sometimes forbidden, meaning delays in delivery through no fault of our own.

ROMEX® 30th anniversary

The 17th October 1989 was the cornerstone of an until now worldwide successful family business. It was in this year 1989, that Rolf Meurer was sitting in a hotel in Budapest and watched on TV for 2 hours as the East Germans "went for a walk" across the Hungarian border to Austria. Everything became clear to him. Communist Socialism was on the brink of collapse. Today or tomorrow! He saw THE chance of doing lucrative business with Eastern Europe. And that is what happened. He ended his successful career as Managing Director of GftK, bought out the export sector for 200.000 DM and formed his own company.

The company name ROMEX, derived from the words - Rolf Meurer Export – today stands for a worldwide successful brand in the sector modern synthetic resin building materials. Thus over the last 30 years, ROMEX® formed itself into a specialist supplier for industrial floor coatings and paving joint mortars of international significance. Today we count as one of the manufacturers with the broadest range of products in this specialised sector.

Rolf Meurer was the first one to recognise the possibility of using synthetic resin binding agents for easy to do paving stone jointing, suitable for use by both experts and beginners, and turned that realisation into success with topnotch products, quality and corresponding customer service.

Within the sector of construction project realisation, we became specialists in the manufacture of industrial floor coatings made of epoxy resin (ER) and polyurethane (PU) for large scale industrial projects. Working together with our laying company partners, we offer our clients tailored advice and supervised application of products, ensuring a high degree of security and quality assurance. This also applies to projects involving our bedding and jointing systems for paved stone and slab surfaces.

Surface protection systems by ROMEX®

Besides the over many years proven OS 8 System by ROMEX®, as of immediately we now also offer OS 11a, OS 11b and OS 4 surface protection systems for carparks and underground carparks.

Floor slabs and ground touching surfaces, especially in the lower decks of carparks, are exposed to much more extreme loads such as damp and winter salt. The usual standard solution for this is the rigid, mechanically loadbearing OS 8 System.

Floor slabs and ground touching surfaces, especially in the lower decks of carparks, are exposed to much more extreme loads such as damp and winter salt. The usual standard solution for this is the rigid, mechanically loadbearing OS 8 System.

On open air decks, as well as the heavy mechanical load exposure, they also need to resist extreme thermal loads in the summer and winter. Optimum protection is provided by the elastic OS 11a System made of primer, swimming layer, abrasion layer and UV resistant top sealant.

Indoor parking decks are often subjected to more frequent usage and for this we recommend the elastic, abrasion resistant surface protection system OS 11b

All surfaces in carparks, not walked or driven on, can be protected using the surface protection system OS 4.

All ROMEX® systems are suitable for use in newbuilds or for repairs on existing surfaces.

We look forward to your projects. Speak to our specialists. We are happy to advise you.
