The EAS1200 in good company
What has proven itself in the car, on aircraft carriers or on the Alps, is now being used under road surfaces.
The shear forces caused by buses, heavy traffic, or by heavy general traffic, can be absorbed by the EAS1200 and discharged without damage through the bedding layer into the base course. As in an aircraft carrier or on an alpine slope, several safety strings are always set. The positions are determined by the forces occurring. The safety ropes on an aircraft carrier are always at the rear. The avalanche barriers are always positioned in the critical zones of the slope. The EAS in road construction are always in the hazardous areas, which are essentially determined by the RStO / 12. Since the braking force increases in the direction of the braking point, the thrust bearings are set narrower. Depending on the dimensions of the covering (formats), 5-7 rows are sufficient to significantly reduce displacements. At the TU Dresden, one could only detect shifts at 1 million axis changes / 10 axes of 1 mm in the prototype. The EAS 1200 distributes the thrust occurring at one point to the entire thrust bearing. It is thus to be assumed that the efficiency is further improved significantly. Assembly or even disassembly can be carried out in a very short time. The EAS 1200 is particularly suitable in the areas of heavy traffic. In these areas, drainable, bonded support layers are located below the unbound bedding.
Here, the EAS 1200 can be inserted into the slot so as to be non-displaceable by slitting the support layer. The mandrels pick up the catch tape, which then takes up the thrust. Thus the thrust force occurring in a segment is distributed. The EAS 1200 can be used immediately by a constructional change on the construction site in a standard construction. This new development was registered with DPMA and in 2014 was awarded the innovation prize at Gala Bau 2014. The use of this displacement protection makes it possible to dispense with bonded construction. The mineral mixtures of the bedding and jointing material must be made of hard rock under these loads. Mineral mixtures of basalt or diabas are particularly suitable. The filter stability is assumed. The upper region of the joint filling can be discharged under high traffic frequency. Cleaning machines and heavy rainfall forces the discharge of the upper area. In order to prevent a weakening of the joint, a flexible joint seal can be used.
